I want to put a brand new Maserati V8 in it, but somehow keeping the hydropenumatic. How hard can it be? ;)

not hard at all to get the hydrauliques to work, you are fabbing up a bracket to hold the pump, and using a custom belt and routing. That is the easy part. Motor mounts, a tranny that will hold the power going to the front wheels and an adapter plate and some custom wiring and mounting

Well, that's interesting.
You see, me and my soon to be father in law has a project of swapping a K20A motor to a citroen BX, but the problem is we're not sure about a lot of things about hydropneumatics.
So it's possible to swap the engine and keep the hydropneumatics?

In theory it should be fine. You will need a new pulley that will fit a serpentine belt instead of vee belts, but if the motor runs the same direction you are still getting hydraulic pressure from that pump. Redlines are different, I wouldnt want to push it much out of the realm of original operating RPMs, but there is a regulator in the system as well

oh dear.
Now i wonder how the Citroen's system holds up a 9000 rpm :D

and here we see the SM has one of 6500 (I had forgotten what it was because I rarely come close)

Well, the SM and DS on my post belongs to a local Citroen Expert. one of the Only 2 SM in Indonesia. And i incredibly jealous of that picture now since my closest encounter of the SM is a very unfinished one.

I hope he has all the bits to it, or he might as well be Tom Hanks in Castaway

K20A in an hydraulic Citroen ?! Sounds good to me, do it !
Redlines aren't the same but I remember that the rev limiter on a BX GTI 16v (160hp for 1000kg) was set to 7200rpm so it probably can do 8000rpm.

Well, i guess that SM is worse than that.
I mean, i never heard an old Maserati in Indonesia. That could only means there's no Maserati Expert in Indonesia. I even once came to a local car museum and the oldest Maserati there is a 3200GT.
But i believe he could restore that SM. Seriously, if he could restore an M35 he could restore anything.

Of course, we're now already removing the engine and looking for some K20A, so at least some job are done.
The problem is Indonesia get all the BX except the GTI. And i thought it has different suspension?
I guess we might need the BX GTI suspension as well.

Well, the good thing about hydropneumatic Citroen is that the suspension settings are exclusively due to the pressure inside the "sphere".
I can't remember the specific pressure of the sphere for the GTI 16v but you can find it on internet (be careful, front and rear are not the same!) and ship them to Indonesia.
In France, 4 spheres will cost you around 100€, that's dirt cheap compared to a package "dampers+springs".
BX GTI 16v also had bigger anti roll bar and alloy wheels which increased the larger of the way.

Nah, those green balls is really common in here.
I think we need the roll bar and maybe BX GTI Sphere. or could we add more pressure by adding more nitrogen in it?

Sure you can add (or remove) some nitrogen to reach the good pressure.
Good luck finding a pair of BX GTI 16v anti-roll bar...

yeah :D
